The Southwest LRT Trail is a name used to refer to a somewhat confusing collection of trails and corridors in the southwest metro area. It mainly consists of two corridors, or tracks.

[edit] south track

The south track is the more commonly known trail. It connects directly to the Midtown Greenway at the western border of the city of Minneapolis (roughly at France Avenue). The trail is paved from Minneapolis to Hopkins, where it changes to crushed limestone at 11th Avenue. The limestone trail continues all the way to Chaska, terminating near the intersection of Flying Cloud Drive and Audubon Road.

The south track is sometimes referred to as the Minnesota River Bluffs LRT Trail.

[edit] north track

The north track runs from Hopkins to Victoria and is crushed limestone for the entire distance. It is the lesser known of the two, partially because the easternmost terminus of the trail is trapped within downtown Hopkins and has no obvious connection to nearby trails.

The north track is sometimes referred to as the Minnetonka LRT Trail.
