Minnehaha Avenue (Saint Paul)

From Bikeview - Infrastructure Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Minnehaha Avenue West in St. Paul is an east/west street with bike lanes in portions from Prior Avenue to Como Avenue. There are bike route signs on portions where the bike lane mysteriously ends. Despite its problems, this is decent alternative to University Avenue. It is mainly residential, particularly on the west side, but becomes industrial on the east side.

[edit] Problems

Minnehaha Avenue is in poor condition and many of the bike lanes have large potholes. The eastern end is home to several shipping companies. This results in not only large amounts of semi-truck traffic, but debris and gravel in the bike lane. Proceed with caution.

The intersection with Como Avenue is uncontrolled. This is not a problem heading east, but the left turn from Como Avenue to Minnehaha Aveue when heading west can be daunting due to the semi-truck traffic.
