On Friday night (May 16) my 2007 Trek 1600 (54 cm, silver/white frame, red tires, red water bottle cage) was stolen from our garage. The garage was locked. The bastard broke the frame on our entry door. Took the Trek and passed on two other bikes in the garage. I bought the bike in January as a closeout from Freewheel.
I gave the police the serial number. I figure it's gone, but thought I'd get the word out.

What neighborhood are you in? The shop manager at Freewheel just had his Specialized Allez stolen in a very similar way and my brother had his bike stolen out of a parking garage, both in the same area in s mpls. One is on 28th ave. S and 38th St. s, and the other is a few blocks up on 21st ave s.
Bummer.

I live in the East Harriet Farmstead Neighborhood. We're near 37th & Bryant. This is the second time in 5 years the garage has been broken into. Last time a retro crusier was stolen. It's frustrating as the crook goes into the yard, then breaks the entry door. There's nothing to see from the alley side of the garage.
Bike and accesories were about $1300 -- deductible is $300, so it's not worth making a claim. Feeling like another type of crook is at play too.

Not that I'd expect it to remain in that hood, but I'll keep an eye out.

Looks a Surly Cross Check is the Rx for the loss...but we may just be treating symptoms at this point.

If your bike and accessories were worth $1300, and the deductible is $300, how is that not worth making a claim?

Error...the deductible is a grand. So, to net $300 and have a claim on the home owner's insurance isn't worth it. If I had a $300 deductible, then it would be worth it. Sorry about the misinformation.

Slow, I know this is an old post, but was the Allez a silver bike with red tires, bar tape, etc. I saw a very poorly locked one in Hopkins today.
