So I figured we should have a sticky where people post the current trail and or road conditions.

Last time I was outside it was slippery with ruts all over the place. Once in a while you could stumble upon a large patch of packed snow that threatens to sweep the tires straight out from under ya.

To put it more succinctly, it isn't the easiest day to be out riding a bicycle.

That's why I didn't ride a bike today

Anyone been out there yet today? Just wondering what we can expect.

I went out this morning very early. Arterials like Lake Street and 42nd Avenue are in pretty good shape; side streets not so much (I had to walk my bike a block to get to where I could ride it). The wind is much more of a drag than the snow.

Watch out for the intersections, where the plows have pushed ridges of snow out into the street that is otherwise clear. If you get a little speed, you can blast right through these.

I rode Como and Raymond today. I didn't notice any ice; most of the snow on the road was just slushy and wet. The problem is that the plows pushed the snow into half the bike lane/parking lane and then the sidewalk blowers threw more snow into the parking lane so everyone is parking in the bike line. Just ride in the road and it seems okay. Intersections are a bit sketchy.

Since no one has posted about the Greenway, I will!

Although I didn't ride a lot of it, what I did ride (the section from the Park onramp to the West Bank) was fairly well plowed. No salt, of course, but with my 700x35 light knobbies, it was pretty damn rideable. It might be kinda difficult with anything narrower than a 28, but I'm betting it could be done.

Anyone take it west out to Hopkins? The forecast is 5 degrees with 10-15mph NW winds tomorrow morning. Although it's supposed to calm down and warm up a little, it's going to be a headwind both ways for me. If it ain't plowed, I ain't ridin.'

Any report on the Mpls Diagonal Trial?

Not surprising, it usually gets plowed before most of the city streets (different equipment which has fewer tasks to get through).

According to my wife, who drove my kid out to hockey in St. Louis Park this afternoon, that stretch of the SW trail is also plowed.

I didn't ride it today but when I crossed Beltline in SLP and Blake in Hopkins, the path was plowed in both directions as far as I could see.

Totally not plowed at all this morning. That put me on New Brighton Blvd up to County Road C, that sucked.

I was wondering how quickly the city would plow this trail. I hope that they continue to promote it with good maintenance and upkeep.

I rode the Greenway/SW LRT from Anne Sullivan out to 11th in Hopkins this morning. Minneapolis was all good, but some exposed sections out west of Beltline have snowdrifts creeping back over the trail, and some pretty big plow ridges to negotiate at the crossings. But I made it in a little over an hour.

The park trails in Opus 2 were not plowed, however, so I had to bike the one-way parkway system to find my job. Luckily there was little traffic there this morning. I hate riding on those curvey narrow one-way roads when they are full of cars itching to get to work or to get home.

As I drove across the Mendota Bridge this morning, it didn't look like the bike/ped trail on the bridge had been cleared yet.
