Seeing as how we're all riding in pretty much the same conditions, I thought it would be a good idea to post what we wore, and if it was too much, not enough, etc. I know we've all got different tolerances for cold, but hopefully it will give people a guidline before heading out in the morning.
I haven't gone anywhere yet today, so I can't post - someone else start us off!

Feet= Tennis shoes and cotton socks

Hands = poly fill gloves

Felt perfectly fine on my 3 mile commute.

Feet = Sneaks and knee socks, nothing special
Legs = Jeans
Torso = Tanktop, thermal shirt, hoodie, wool sweater
Hands = PI lobsterclaws
Head = Cycling cap and scarf.
My toes took a few minutes to thaw at work and my thighs went a little numb, but them's the breaks. Not bad at all for today.

Damn lotsa layers there minx. Yesterday morning I actually rode to class in a longsleeve shirt cause I didn't realize it had gotten cold. Let's just say it was brisk. I woke up 15 mins before a teest, so I didn't have much time to think anyway. Woke me up well, anyway. Otherwise it's usually just jeans and a hoodie. I'm actually plenty warm in that, and am maybe too warm.
I still have a lot of work todo on my winter attire, but for now I'm going to rely pretty heavily on my ski clothes... I'll combine a lot of long underwear with wool socks and hooded sweatshirts. I should probably get a new jacket though, cause I only have a fleece one that breaks wind on the top half (north face or something) and a big ski jacket that's really too much jacket for me most days.
Any tips on a good medium weight jacket that blocks wind? I'm thinking something more fitted and not too thick so I'm not a blob of layers. I'm not entirely opposed to women's jackets as long as they don't look girlish. I will admit that my sister's ski jacket completely owns mine.

Dammnnnn minx why'd you show me such an expensive site? My weak spot is well-made stuff, and that sure is... Well made, but damn spendy too. =/ I don't like that their pics on the softshell jacket are only details and never of the whole thing. Why would I buy a $300+ jacket sight unseen?

Here's a full view of the Rapha softshell.
Maybe Adam can get to work on designing a
knock off, and we can make jackets, too,
right after we make our bags!

That is pretty much what I'm after, but I'll see if I can find a less expensive version.

So, what is the advantage of the off-center zipper?
A warmer sternum? Or less pressure on your
zip from a messenger bag?

Holy fuckin windy ass bitch!
Lest I reiterate, What a douche!
Haha, this is nothing, just wait a few months...
Anyone else get a nice blow job this morning? It was
like track-standing into the wind for forty-five minutes.

One Jacket, perfect for those who like to layer)
Hands = Mountaineering mittens, but without all the layers
Legs/Crotch = Cock-sock, cotton boxer-briefs, light-
weight silk long underwear, thin nylon shell pants
Feet = Shimano sandals + ankle socks, two pr. normal wool
biking socks, thin layer of windproof neoprene, large pr. wool socks

This is what I truly needed. I have absolutely NO clue about this topic. I lived in Los Angeles for 32 years and I'm still trying to get used to the cold air! I am planning on trying to ride through the fall-probably not in the REAL snow though and this will be my first experience with cold weather and bike ridiing.

Right on. Its a lot easier to bike through the winter than it seems. Serisouly. I'd rather bike in the snow than the rain anyday.
