I need new 700c clinchers for my vintage road bike. But the last time I was in a store - just a week ago - the shelves were still full of sad-looking studded snow tires, going nowhere. Have the stores switched to the spring product lineup yet?

There's still a chance of icy roads, so as a bike shop I'd still want to offer studded tires to customers.
With that said, Freewheel West Bank has always had non-studded tires in stock.

But why not just call your shop of choice and ask what they've got?

I don't know what I want. It's a classic bike so appearance is one factor. That's why I want to go to a store that has a lot of tires. If I knew exactly what I wanted I'd just order online and save the driving.

I say it's time to put away the snow tires. Who would be buying new snow tires in the middle of March?

Cool. Looking for something a bit more "period correct" for a 70s road bike :-)

I noticed quite a few non-studded tires in Calhoun Cycle last week.

Get some Panaracer Paselas. Nice tread pattern, the Tourguard version is puncture resistant, wire or kevlar bead, and you can get them with skin walls for the vintage look.

If the shop doesn't have them in stock they should still be able to get you some.

+1 to Jerbear's tread choice. They even come in a 27" size.

Paselas are good, in fact I've used them. The big loud orange logo looks all wrong on this particular bike. Was hoping to just walk into a store, see a lot of tires, find some that looked vintage-y and walk out with them.

+2 Paselas. I think the Tourguards have a different logo. Blue maybe??

I will +3 paselas, got them on my casseroll and they look/perform great.

You might like a few of these options. Your taste sounds so specific I'm not holding out hope for you that someone in town is going to stock something that fits exactly what you're looking for.

The bike has a very specific style and look which I want to preserve. Actually though, I think I remember taking sandpaper to a tire logo once and having some success. It's getting harder all the time to find tires with the right vintage look; the trend today is wild colors and patterns "because we can".
