Hey! Cyclist that was waiting for the 50 bus by the Capitol, you had a pony tail, glasses, a green bike with goldish fenders and a serious front rack. I got on the bus and you rode on. Later on, on University past Snelling our driver was a straight jerk to you, honking and trying to get around you on the part of University that was under construction and there are barriers everywhere.

We have volunteered together for something bike related, and I want to say your name is Andrew, but I really am not sure. Hoping this message gets to you.

Anyway, I wanted to let you know that I went to http://metrotransit.org/comment-on-metr ... rvice.aspx and logged a complaint, in addition to saying something to the driver.

Quote:
I boarded the 50 yesterday near the Capitol around 4:15, heading West on University. There were no incidents until we got past Snelling to where there is construction on University. Our driver, 5860, disregarded the safety of a cyclist on that stretch of road. Our driver honked and aggressively tried to get around a cyclist. That area has construction, barriers everywhere, and everyone is slowly snaking their way around the mess. There is nowhere for the cyclist to be other than in the lane. Most Metro Transit drivers are very respectful of cyclists, and I was disappointed that this particular driver was so dangerous and aggressive. I would appreciate a follow-up to this comment.

Thank you,
L

I forgot to get the vehicle #, but the driver # is what is important anyway.

Ride safely,
Low

Lowrah,

I thought that was you- but I did not recognize your bike. Just your face. And that was not enough for me to say hi by name. And yes, you have me name correctly.

Anyhow, I though the incident was pretty funny. The driver first tells me I cant board the bus with my bike. Fair enough. Then he honks when I am ahead of him on the road blocking him from getting to the the traffic jam ahead.

It was a good reminder of just how slow the bus actually is now that we are back into construction season. After you got on the bus at the Capitol I started riding. The bus did not catch up until Prior (where he honked). Y'all got stuck in traffic again and I kept riding and stayed ahead until I turned off at Franklin @280. I saw you in the bus window as you went past.

And I was not even pedaling fast since I was overheated in my arctic winter coat and rain pants. If I did not value my magazine reading time on the 50 so much, I would bike home every day!

Hey - make your own laundry detergent. It works better and is WAY cheaper than store-bought detergent. Here's how to do it:

1 cup Fel's Naptha
1/2 cup Washing Soda (find it in a hardware store or in the grocery store laundry detergent aisle)
1/2 cup Borax (same deal - hardware store or grocery store laundry detergent aisle)

Grate Fel's Naptha to a fine powder using a cheese grater (this is the worst part, but it's not bad)
Add 1/2 cup Washing Soda and 1/2 cup Borax. Mix well. If Washing Soda or Borax is chunky, pinch the chunks to break them up and make an even, fine mixture.

Use (only) 1 tbsp/load or 2 tbsp/per load for heavily soiled clothing.

Pro Tips:

Fel's Naptha looks like a bar of soap - The wrapper is mostly white and it's usually on the bottom shelves in the laundry section of the drug store or grocery store. You need a grater to grind it up. Washing Soda is NOT the same thing as baking soda. Look for the real deal or get some OxyClean if you can't find the real deal. Borax is easy to find and is in most grocery stores.
