Sorry to bring up such a "delicate" subject, but I figured I'm not the first. Tomorrow will be the one week anniversary of my vasectomy and I still don't feel comfortable getting on my bike. I miss riding and want to get back to commuting as quickly as possible. How long have others waited before getting back on the saddle?

You don't get to tell everyone you got a vasectomy if you just Google it yourself (or ask your doctor).

Edit: thanks for the lmgtfy link. I'm getting snipped later this year and the part I dread most if being out of the saddle for ?? days.

I've already Googled the information and was merely looking for some real world non-medical advice on the situation. If penis talk makes you uncomfortable I don't see how you could be comfortable surfing the web at all :)

took me a couple weeks for even a ride around the block - after a month or so I seemed fine.

Fuck, a MONTH?! I guess I haven't talked to my doctor yet but from the general info I've read up on so far I didn't think it required that much recovery.

Dirtyspeed was complaining about his balls for weeks so a month may not be out of the question.

TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR!

I mean, it's really not that hard. It is his job, after all, to give you that kind of information.

Men's balls are America's greatest asset against the war on terror, we must take care of them.

Anyways for me it was 1.5 weeks no riding, second to third week minimal riding and by months end I was back to normal with some discomfort here or there however I ended up getting sick so riding was still minimal most of the time.

Anyways, by the end of the second week you should be fine. Or if you feel fine then you should be fine. Thirteen of Clubs took the weekend off I believe. It all depends on how fast you recover.

This is the gist of what I've read on various medical sites, and what I suspect my doctor will say.

Actually, my snip was so long ago that it predates me being much of a bike person. I do remember that I healed up pretty quick, and wasn't too sore. Of course, I was in my early 20s, these days a slip on the ice has me limping around for a week.

I'd echo what Dirtyspeed said, if you feel fine, you'll be fine. As an alternative, you could take this opportunity to get a trials bike.

I may have a noseless saddle laying around that someone can borrow for their recovery time...

Let me know if you want me to check the garage.

Nothing is 100% british unless it's flavored with raisins.
