This happened to me about 11 years ago when I used to build steel furniture. It was my own fault, but I hadnt been properly trained on the machine and I was tired. I still got workers comp. Three months "paid vacation", and a small check (the money is long gone ya' gold diggers). Enjoy...?

Makes me wish someone had the insight to take a picture of my thumb when I severed it at age 3

I didn't realize there was a finger there at first but just shredded paper towel.

No finger now - I am now an amputee. Lopped off at the first knuckle. It was a crush accident, and the built up pressure blew out the side of my finger - that and the crush = the shredded appearance. The second knuckle turned black after a week, so they took it down to what I have now.

I am rather impressed that it looked so good after they put it back together. However, I am not surprised that they did have amputate with how compromised the blood supply would have been. Still, it's awesome that you got to keep as much as you did.

The healing power of the body amazes me.

Thanks Kuan - I have no qualms talking about it. This here is an open invitation to everyone reading to ask questions and inspect what is left of my finger
