It's almost time for the Lake Minnetonka Ice Race!
Hopefully it'll get colder soon; I'm not even sure if the lake is frozen over yet. Either way, the race will probably go down. You should do it.

RACE INFO
Date: January 21st, 2012
Location: Lake Minnetonka, Wayzata Bay, Wayzata

Check-in/Sign-up at Wintergreen Northern Wear
Hardcore Sign-in: 8-10am
Novice-Intermediate Sign-in: 8am-11am

Race Start
Hardcore: 10:30am (Mass Start)
Novice-Intermediate: 11:30am (Mass Start)

COURSE INFORMATION: The course will be run ENTIRELY on Lake Minnetonka. We’ll start and finish just off the shoreline of Wayzata Bay near the main boat landing. There will be technical sections of exposed ice, fast (assuming the weather plays nice) sections of flat, hard-packed snow, and possibly some other surprises thrown in for good measure. Tire choice might be tricky, but it’ll be a good time. Studded tires are recommended but not required.(The gnarliness of the studs is up to you.) If you'd rather rock your Fatbike... DO IT!

CLASSES:
Hardcore - About 10-12 miles(the distance may change closer to the date of the event), male and female classes, 2-minute staggered wave start between men and women. If you’re fast or kinda fast, race here.

Novice/Intermediate - About 6-8 miles(distance may change closer to the date of the event), male and female classes, 2-minute staggered wave start between men and women

I'm signed up for this and the other 3 that Freewheel is sponsoring.

The lake is no where near frozen yet.

Stoked nonetheless.

The 675 drops off 2 block from the lake.

Good studded tires are an investment that will pay for themselves by not missing work due to broken bones.
