It's back! This year we've going BIGGER and BETTER! Big prize list, a post-race party, new (and WARM) start location, chip-timing (just kidding... or are we?), themed manifests, better drink bonuses, and more! 5 years now, are we becoming a classic yet? If you've never gone, you're missing out.

Once again, this is an ALL SAINT PAUL alleycat race on December 31st (New Year's Eve). Start location is at OMNIUM BIKE SHOP this year; Race goes off at 7PM exactly. Awards are at 9:00 at the finish location. House party to follow from 11pm until the wee hours of the morning. Cost is $5.

For those of you who've done this in year's past, the format is a little different and should be a little more challenging for everyone involved but also a lot more fun. If you HAVE done it before but can't race, please volunteer!

Wouldn't you rather be riding your bike on New Year's Eve anyway? Time allows those with midnight plans to race AND still make it somewhere else. OR you can keep hanging for a sweet after-party all night long!

Is that (Omnium) a block-and-a-half from the TLC Offices?

TLC offices are at 626 Selby and Omnium is at 520 Selby. Pretty darn close.

Route's done, volunteers are coming out of the woodwork; really looking like this is going to be the best year ever! Hope you're coming again, euterpe... I'm also really hoping biker_lee is coming, too.

Yes, I'd rather ride on NYE, just not so much after midnight. :)
Hope to race this again!

A St. Paul alleycat. I guess I don't have much excuse not to attend if the start is a mile from my house.

Does the "few gears" imply fixed/ss-only race? Or that racers are allowed to have a few gears?

No, ride what 'ya got. It's just a play on words.

One of my favorites all year. Too bad it's not -15.

Today's the day! Anyone interested in volunteering should meet at Omnium Bike Shop at 5pm for free food and to get filled in on what they need to do. The race will go off exactly at 7:00 (which is ALSO when manifests will be given out). If you're racing, don't show up before 6:30 or you might be disqualified. Race entry fee is $5. There are indoor stops on the route; you might want to bring cash if you want drink bonuses there. You can ride whatever you want, we really don't care. Race ends, officially, at 9pm and is also when we'll give prizes out. There are prizes for first thru third (no longer a "top men" or "top women" list; that was just silly anyways), a DFL prize and a special game prize. There's a sweet party at a house afterwards for anyone involved (with food, beers, etc) that starts at 11pm. We usually all ride there from the finish. Any other questions?

Oh yeah, we might be getting epic weather so be careful and come prepared! See you tonight!

It was a well planned event -- thanks. The weather during the event made for a great adventure, but I suspect it also made it impossible for most people to finish by 9pm (including me). Next year...
