Please note the following: Beginning now until mid-November, there will be construction between Hennepin Avenue and Fremont Avenue on the Midtown Greenway trail to allow for the installation of a new bike ramp and bridge at Girard Avenue. During construction hours, one lane of the trail will be closed. For one day in mid-October, the Midtown Greenway will be closed between Humboldt Avenue and Bryant Avenue to allow for the safe installation of the bridge. A signed detour will be placed during that time. The bridge installation date will be provided with as much advance notice as possible but is anticipated to be sometime within the week of October 17th. The project is the result of a partnership between Hennepin County’s Transit Oriented Development Program, The Ackerberg Group’s MoZaic project, Greco Development’s Flux project, Hennepin County Regional Rail Authority and the City of Minneapolis. Please use caution when adjacent construction areas while this access improvement is completed. For additional information, please contact Thatcher Imboden of The Ackerberg Group at thatcher@ackerberg.com or 612-924-6411.

Please note:
There will be a detour on Thursday, October 27th starting in the early morning through dinner time to allow for the installation of a new pedestrian/bike bridge at Girard Avenue as a part of this access project.
The entire trail will be closed between Fremont Avenue and Hennepin Avenue, meaning that trail users will be required to detour between Humboldt/Irving Avenue on the west and Bryant Avenue on the east. The official detour route will have trail users going north to 27th Street and then across.
-
Work on the retaining wall for the ramp between Girard and Hennepin will start later this week.
The entire bridge and ramp will open to the public in December.
-
Your cooperation and patience is greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you have any comments or questions.

Thanks for the heads-up on this. I am usually pretty early to work anyhow, but it is nice to know the day my commute will likely take a little longer so I can leave early.

I love that there is finally a ramp going in here. Not that Hennepin is all that bike-friendly, but still. It's lame going 6 blocks around to get to Hennepin from the east.

From City of Minneapolis - Bicycling Update Subscription
Bicycling Update Subscribers,
Tomorrow Thursday, October 27th, a 1-day closure of the Midtown Greenway will take place between Humboldt Avenue and Bryant Avenue. The Greenway will be closed at 5am and reopen in the late afternoon or early evening. A signed detour route will be posted. This trail closure will facilitate the placement of a new bicycle and pedestrian bridge at Girard Avenue over the Greenway trench. Later this year a new access ramp for trail users will open between the Midtown Greenway and Girard Avenue. For more information about this development project visit the Ackerberg Group project website.
Happy Riding,
City of Minneapolis Bicycle Program

The trail will be closed today (Thursday, October 27th). It will likely be fully closed off within the next 45 to 60 minutes.
There will be snow fence at Fremont and at Hennepin across the trail so please use the Bryant/Humbodt detours.
Tomorrow (Friday) there will likely be a few short times where you may encounter a flag person while the bridge's concrete deck is finished. Please use caution in that area.
If it means anything, it was labeled as Fremont on the sign plan.

Thank you for your cooperation during the detour.
The Midtown Greenway trail has reopened. It should remain open from here forward. There will be a brief period of time tomorrow that the trail will have a flag person, as we don't want anyone to have wet concrete potentially splattered on anyone below.

Trail construction will last longer than our projected November 15th completion. It will be finished in December. Additional details will be available as we get closer to completion.
As always, please feel free to contact me with comments or questions.

I've added a couple photos of the retaining wall work at: http://ow.ly/i/lHyrhttp://ow.ly/i/lHyvNext week the bulk of the ramp will be done. Then it's on too finishing work, fencing, and the gateway from the north. We're removing part of Girard Avenue to create a safer, more attractive gateway to the bridge and ramp. Bridge and ramp opening should take place sometime in December. More on that when we have a better idea on completion of both the bridge/ramp and on whether there's a safe way to get to Uptown on the south side while construction on Mozaic is finished.
