http://www.kare11.com/news/article/9455 ... oric-twist An interesting article but the meat of it is here: It's a $9 million project that will start next spring. And that's when the traffic headache will begin.
Lyndale Avenue at the bridge will be closed to cars and pedestrian traffic starting in February 2012. The project is expected to be done by the end of 2012.

This is why I was remarking that however much I think the Bryant Pedestrian bridge is stupid for the way traffic flows around it, it'll be a godsend once this shenanigans starts.

Murphy's Law demands that a car will cause you to stop, lose momentum and temporary motivation, at the Bryant bridge over the creek. If they honk and wave you through the intersection once you've stopped and demonstrated your trackstand skills, wave, quickly crack open a cold one, guzzle some foamy suds in their face, and then slowly turn around and walk the other way! They love it, or not!

yea, then they'll start rebuilding Lyndale south of the Creek to 56th as a single lane in each direction with a center turn lane and no bike lanes, but with 17' sidewalks or something crazy like that.
We tried advocating on that but came in too late. Contact Peter McLaughlin or Gail Dorfman at the County at this point.

I wonder if they have any special plans for the path under the bridge. It would be nice to have a shared path beneath and avoid the light.

There is a path there now. But it's overgrown, bumpy and technically closed off.
This is happening right it my hood. I'm sure traffic will be pushed over to Nicollet. That should make things fun.

. Was that on both sides? I always remember it being a ped path on the north side of it, so if you went for it, you were hoping not to meet anyone...especially a bike coming from the other side.

There's a wooden ped bridge on the north side of the creek. South side has an approx 2' slanted concrete ledge that's covered in pidgeon poop and broken glass, unless things have changed drastically.

Crap.
I'm getting back on the bike starting in March--the new kiddo is starting daycare (58th and Lyndale). My plan was to drive to daycare and drop off baby, pull the commuter off of the roof, and crank my way in to work.
Assuming that I want to go Creek/Harriet/Calhoun/Kenilworth, where's the best place to access M'haha from there if Lyndale is out of commission? Bryant?

Owrd is they found some "bones" and had to call in the specialists. Delaying the project. It's not suppose tobe donw until Oct.
