Glad to hear you are doing well!

I'm a huge fan of fruit smoothies. I've never gone by any kind of recipe, I've just used whatever fruits (frozen or fresh) and fruit juices that were on sale.

I put plain yogurt, frozen fruit, fruit juice, wheat germ and local honey in the blender and call it good. The wheat germ adds vitamins and nutrients and the honey adds dimension.

For juice, I love the combo of carrots, apples and ginger- Mmmmm!
Or beets, apples, carrots. Pretty and tasty.

For smoothies, I cut up and then freeze the fruit, so I don't
have to use ice- they taste much better this way-
frozen bananas, strawberries, peaches, berries, etc.,
plus a splash o' milk, soy milk or juice- to taste. Delectable!

If you get sick of drinking only sweet stuff, you could
do some blended soups with sweet potato, yams, potatoes
or other root veggies. Just watch the temp, so you don't
get burned, drinking through a straw!

Go here. http://www.epicmealtime.com/

Anyone of those recipes, you cook it and then put it in the blender with your favorite booze and there ya go.

Okay don't actually do that.

Instead I like to use:

Two heaping table spoons of vanilla Greek yogurt.
1 Frozen Banana
A little protein powder
1 kiwi or what ever kind of fruit you like it doesn't matter so much, I usually saw one whole of something unless it is small like a berry, then I say a handful.
a pinch of sea salt
a tiny splash of vanilla or almond extract and like 3 or 4 ice cubes to make it extra chilly
top it off with about a half cup of milk, 2% works best and maybe some carrots or tomatos

It sounds nasty I know, but it is delicious and you cover most of your bases for food groups, chase it with a couple beers for your daily carbs and you are good to go

Yeah, I would echo the blended soup recommendation.... I love sweet potato with carrot and ginger, potato-leek is very good, and there is always the potato-beer-cheddar soup way to go.

Get some tomatoes and make gazpacho- we're at the end of tomato season, it's a good time. Try a cucumber-dill-cream soup, cold, or a zucchini and yellow curry soup.

Also consider daal- basically just mushed up lentils with onion, garlic, spices. But it can be tasty.

Really sucks what happened to you, hope you heal well.

I don't know what neighborhood you are in but I have seen some signs for a soup CSA in Longfellow (?) for the winter if you need some variety.

Might want to look into a slow cooker (crockpot) as well. Lots of good soft foods come out of a slow cooker, mmmmmm.

Just catching up on this story. Yikes! Update on condition? I would definitely donate if you're having trouble financially as a result of this. This could've been any of us.

timonster77 was back to work on the pedicab when I saw him a couple weeks ago but still wasn't on solid food at that point.

Yea, metal came out of my moth the other day. It may very well have been the most unpleasant part of my whole ordeal. I was pretty doped up in the hospital though.

Physically i came out pretty unscathed. i suffered some nerve damage and have numbness on part of my cheek, chin and lip. The Dr. says it should come back. After the installation of my plates, they sewed me up a little tight which creates a dimple in my chin. I'm the only one who really notices though.

I have little to no mental stress or trauma regarding the assault. I was worried about having a fear of people in the shadows and such things. I still have no memory of the attack, which is a little disturbing to me.

I lost maybe a few pounds while on my liquid diet. Any of you who may know me, know that I couldn't afford to lose much more than that. My favorite smoothie consisted of avocado, banana, peaunt butter, apple juice, yogurt, protein powder and flax seed oil.

I was back to pedi-cabbing after the 3rd week(against Doc orders). It took about another week for my legs to get back into shape. It was hard not being able to pedal. I have been riding my bike regularly for the last month. Not nearly as hard or fast as I like but saddle time none the less.

I got the OK finally to ride and run. The Dr. knew I probably wouldn't not ride bike but he forbade me from running. I missed running. I was training toward to a barefoot 1/2 marathon Monster Dash. Guess I'll just have to do the full marathon next year.

My fellow Twin Town pilots were very kind in kicking down some money and we managed to collect some donations @ the No Hater. We thank all of you who offered monetary support and those who still do. Anything still helps.

The MPD still haven't got the guy. I thought they did. The bouncer at The Nomad has called them twice that I know of when the fella was spotted but nothing has come of it.

I'm not saying I'm glad it was me but this experience has given me time to reflect on and slow down my life. This could have been any one of us and I sure am glad it wasn't you.

Safe ridin' y'all!

New to the site, and to cycling in Mpls. Terribly sorry to hear about your experience, and I'm wonderfully happy that you came through it fine, though I'm sure you won't seek out a smoothie for a while ;)
