Gang, I don't know how aware all of you are of what MORC has been working on but here are a few things I'd like to share with you that are definitely of interest to those that mountain bike.
1. The Cuyuna trail. Imagine if you will a trail over 20 miles long in an old mining area NE of Brainerd, MN in Ironton. Some dedicated folks at MORC have been working on getting this going for years. It's was built last year with the help of grants and such. They are waiting for the trail to dry up and put some finishing touches on the trail. They have some work to do this spring before it opens. You'll have to check the MORC website to get updates on that.
It's definitely a destination trail and there is camping there. Here is a bit of a teaser video some of the people involved made last fall.

There will be two festivals there this year. The Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Festival. This one is on Friend Face. It looks like Hans Rey is going to be there. There isn't a date set for this one yet.

Squirrel Fest which is July 15th - 17th.

This trail has a predicted opening date of July 1st. It's still under construction. The final trail will be over 10 miles of single track. From what I've heard it's going to be pretty sweet and a great addition for folks living up in the north burbs that don't want to go all the way to Hill Side.
