Damn! We won't be able to make it today. Dew points will be in the 70s and Jane has exercise induced asthma. No way could she do anything strenuous outside today.

And I went on a ride without her yesterday so I won't be showing up either. We were really looking forward to this as residential architecture is an interest of ours.

Have fun.

Save the date: the next 3-speed ramble will be this Sunday. We'll leave at 9:00 AM and breakfast/brunch at The Finnish Bistro is a certainty. The point of this ride (other than having fun) is to show people how easy it is to ride your bike to the State Fair. If you are interested in seeing this route, or just want a leisurely Sunday morning ride, join us.

I think we'll probably leave from Minnehaha train depot or perhaps the Longfellow Grill. I need to check with my co-conspirator on this before we finalize anything, but a 9:00 AM start is locked in.

Okay - here are the details:

On Sunday, July 31 we will be riding to the State Fair to recon the route in anticipation of going to the Fair in August and getting some tasty breakfast at The Finnish Bistro, which is located on Como Ave. near the State Fair Grounds. We will meet at the train depot in Minnehaha Falls at 9:00 AM on Sunday, July 31. This will be a relatively short and easy ride - it's only about 6.5 miles from the Depot to Finnish Bistro. If the group wants more miles, we can throw in a few meanders or take the long way home.

This will be a leisurely, no-drop ride and the food will be great. If anybody wants to join us at Finnish Bistro, PM me and I"ll get you a cell phone number for the ride.

Glad you can make it. Bring that pretty bike if you can. We are not meeting at the main pavilion - the historic train depot is located here.

See you there!!

Great to bump into you guys! I'd wanted to visit that sinkhole for a while, just never got around to it, so this worked out quite nicely.

Hey - it was great to run into you as well. Good work catching up to us since we were moving along in a peloton like that.

The sinkhole was an added bonus and nice cap to the ride - thanks Bikesmith for sharing this hole in the ground with us and thanks everybody that came out today!

Who's up for a ride over Labor Day weekend? I'd like to ride a River/Phalen/Como loop in St. Paul, so we're looking at a bit longer ride:

http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Fort+Snelling+State+Trail&daddr=Unknown+road+to:Unknown+road+to:Warner+Rd+to:44.95731,-93.07833+to:Unknown+road+to:44.9919149,-93.0519516+to:Frost+Ave+to:W+Wheelock+Pkwy+to:44.98232,-93.13986+to:44.97834,-93.19055+to:Summit+Ave+to:Unknown+road+to:Unknown+road&hl=en&ll=44.946333,-93.12664&spn=0.186375,0.44529&sll=44.94622,-93.12673&sspn=0.180301,0.44529&geocode=Fc9arQIdv7Bx-g%3BFYZlrQIdEuZx-g%3BFf5qrQIdNu5y-g%3BFcvUrQIdYUh0-g%3BFX7-rQIdxrxz-inX41rFX9X3hzFQWyf_o0FniA%3BFZRWrgIdUjp0-g%3BFaqFrgId0SN0-ilLmP8R-tSyUjG4IDMieBZ6HQ%3BFaCargIdBvpz-g%3BFfR9rgIdCDBz-g%3BFTBgrgIdbMxy-im3gk1k4iqzUjGY6HIMDsRVqQ%3BFaRQrgIdagZy-ikJEqzpmSyzUjGTJ6-4eMbHwg%3BFWbBrQIdWOtx-g%3BFT94rQIdR-lx-g%3BFcVkrQId1uVx-g&mra=dpe&mrsp=9&sz=12&via=4,6,9,10&dirflg=b&safe=strict&t=p&lci=bike&z=12&vpsrc=0

We could start at the cross, point H or so, to shave a couple of miles off. There are a few climbs in here, and it's close to the St. Paul classic, but I'd like to ride through Swede Hollow and the Vento Trail to Lake Phalen.

What days work for people?

I'll take that ride on. I am unscheduled and in-town for Labor Day. I have a commitment on Sunday morning (Sept 4) that I'd like to keep but could make Sunday late morning or afternoon work as well. Saturday might be a possibility.

This will be a good route, thanks for proposing it.

Big family todo over the weekend and people probably won't clear out until Monday sometime - darn! Thanks for planning though. I'll check back for the date and time specifics just in case. Who knows maybe some of them will want to try it if it happens to be Sunday.
