Today, the 30th of June, is historically and statistically the most dangerous day to be on Minnesota roads. Just about every law enforcement agency will have extra personnel on the roads today and this weekend. Watch out for drunks and make it through the weekend in one piece.

I wonder why? I can see the fourth and possibly a day or two around it, but what makes the 30th such a standout?

In many business entities and organizations June 30 is the end of the fiscal year. Perhaps, stress and distraction associated with closing the books (or agreeing on a budget) is a contributing factor.
