Please reference me if this has already been discussed elsewhere, but I have been inspecting much of the small area plans for the CCLRT up and down University, but until today did not look at the small area plan for where CCLRT will meet up with Hiawatha before the merge at DT East station.

The plan, seen here, (11th Ave to Metrodome) shows that the tracks will cross over the existing hiawatha trail connection. What do you guys know about this new conflict for what is, was, the best way to get from West Bank area to downtown?

Thanks for posting. I'd seen the piers going up and the pavement marking but didn't know how it was going together.

I'm assuming/hoping when it's finished it will be at at grade crossing for the path to cross the CCLRT tracks when they turn to go over 35W.

In the meantime, the detour is here http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/bicycles/HiawathaBikePathDetour.pdf

Not sure if it's already been discussed but I'm sure Svenn will let us know shortly if it has...

I think it's fine. That thread's to warn people about the trail closing, while this is about how it will all work together when finished.

Cool. I e-mailed Shaun to see if they have anything showing what the final layout is.

I emailed the Central Corridor project office to ask about this.

They didn't get back to me.

I called and left a voicemail message.

They didn't get back to me.

I called again and talked to a real person who was going to check and get back to me.

They didn't get back to me.

I live 6 blocks from this mess and have emailed my supposed community rep several times and copied by council person on each message. They have never gotten back to me, although my councilperson sent an email reply all agreeing that the issues I raised need to be addressed.

I have decided that the nice looking Hispanic lady who is supposedly my community rep is just a stock photo and no actual person exists.

Well, the last I heard about it was several years ago, and at the time the best I remember hearing was that they were going to have the tracks cross the trail at an angle that "shouldn't be a problem" for trapping wheels. At any rate, yes, it is (again, as far as I can remember, and several years ago) an at grade crossing. The only thing I remember that I would call unqualified good news is that they are going to rebuild that whole section of the trail from the crossing by Bedlam to the Metrodome. But with the way budgets have gone since then, all of that could be changing.
