I closed the gates today. Wirth is closed for the spring thaw. Please respect the gates and keep out until we can open them again. Don't be making needless fix-it work for us. That stuff stinks and it takes us about a month and materials ($) to get it cleaned up.

We have a lot of work ahead this spring. If ever we needed you most this is the time. We need to get the new mile open this spring. It's going to be awesome! We also need to finish the dump loop. That's the pump track that's only started as an off shoot at the beginning of the north loop. It's not even half done yet and it goes all around the sinkhole area and we can pretty much build it however we want using any of the concrete hunks that are laying around down there. For free riders this means we don't have to follow the IMBA rules because the area is not sustainable because it's over an old garbage dump and in fact a dump itself and unsustainable by nature.

We also have other things in the works. We are still very much on page with getting our ten mile trail back. We are looking south and working with the groups to bring that to reality. It is happening now.

So you need to get out there when trail work starts so we can finish current projects and secure those other areas. We always have to finish what we've started first. That means we need you this spring to get that done so we can get out with the GPS and start going through approval processes for other stuff south of 55.

Yes I said it. South of 55. And beyond as well. 8)

Ten miles!

So are there set dates yet? I'm definitely interested in helping out. More so at wirth but could probably make both happen. Maybe if there's a link or phone number you could post it or any info. Thanks

This is one of my favorite typos ever.

Gang, this is the north loop trail entrance as of today. (Sunday, April 10th 2011)

I'm thinking it's going to be about two weeks before it opens but that all depends on the weather. Thanks for staying off the trail I didn't see any muddy tire prints. For every ten rides out there it adds about two trail sessions for us to fix it. Sometimes all it takes is one rider to add 25 hours of labor. That labor takes away from us finishing that sweet new section of trail. So again, thanks for staying off it.

For current updates go to this page. It has the current status of all the area MTB trails.

http://www.morcmtb.org/forums/trailconditions.php

The dates on some of trails may seem old but they are the current conditions. We don't always update them if the conditions haven't changed. If you do see conditions on out state trails from 2010 they probably aren't right. I'm not sure who is responsible for updating those trails.

As for trail work we sure would love the help. We don't have start dates for that yet. We also need the trail to dry up to work on it so we don't put foot prints into it that later fill up with water.

Steef and I post up here when trail work sessions are going to happen. They are on Wednesday nights at 5pm. It's fine to show up late and find us on the trail. We realize that not everyone can make it that early due to work and such. As soon as it starts either Steef or I will let you know.

I went out and walked the entire trail today. It's not ready yet. I'm going to look at it again tomorrow afternoon. I'm hoping that we can open it by Tuesday if it doesn't rain. Right now there is an 80% chance of that according to the weather report.

I'd really like to get some dirt on. This spring wait is always a drag.
