Would you participate in a sweet triathlon?

I can't run either, although I would be down for the biking and swimming. Maybe for the run/bike portions it could be a 'choose one of the two' option after biking?

I'd be up for this. Most triathlons are so expensive. We could downgrade the running and swimming portions. Maybe swim across Cedar, bike to Nokomis, run around Nokomis.

+1 for this guy. I happen to be decent, not great, but decent at all parts. I'd have to train for the swimming part, and my fastest 5k is only like 19:26, so I can probably train up a little and get close to that. Damn this sounds fun!

I'd participate if I was in town-- it sounds like fun, ESPECIALLY being that its not so tight-assed like 'regular' Triathlons.

I'd either walk the running part or do the 'relay' bit and leave the running to someone who enjoys it...

This is a good idea!

We'd have to keep this sorta on the downlow. You can go for a swim on your own in most lakes unmolested, but start doing it with other people in any organized fashion, and the city might try and shut ya down.

Not big on running, but I'd certainly watch my chances at a respectable finish fail as everyone else past me in the last 2 miles.

The silver lining would be I'd actually put more than a single 8 mile run into my $50 running shoes.

I'm super down to participate, perhaps even help organize. Been wanting a reason to get my lazy ass to learn to swim.

Awesome. I don't really know what the next step is, however.

Some good advice here on making an official race...

Otherwise I say we just do this thing ninja style and all show up at some predetermined lake fifteen minutes before the start.

I pulled a muscle trying to read all that.

Ninja style is the way to go. In fact, I say we all dress as ninjas.

I think an adventure style race is a better idea. I can help set one of those up where it's trail running in short distances and people get wet without a ton of swimming. Basically you have a partner or partners that would do those things while the other(s) watch the bikes or something like that.

It's pretty easy to set these courses up and checkpoints don't all necessarily need to have anyone there. I'm not good at getting the hordes out or doing after parties. I can set up a challenging course with all the fixings and make you get wet and dirty though.

Both Steef and I have set up something similar but not to this degree. I think this would be much more fun.

Would you need a big beefy mountain bike?
