I am heading out to Colorado Springs at the end of October to study bicycle mechanics at Barnett Bicycle Institute. I will be out there for 4 weeks.
Anyone here been out there? Anyone know of any good restaurants, good sights to check out, good paved bike trails, moderately easy mountain bike trails, etc???

if you have a car out there (or can borrow or rent one) do your best to make it to Crested Butte. its by far one of the coolest cities (more of a town) that ive ever been too. they also have legendary moutain bike trails. try to ride the snodgrass trail, upper, upper upper, and dyke trail. all phenomenal. for being such a small town in a box canyon, they have a great selection of bars and restaurants. crested butte should be under 200 mi from co springs, not far for a weekend trip. but its high altitude, the towns at like 9000 and everthing is up from there. Gunnison is a little bit closer and a really cool town too, just not as awesome. if you go to gunnison, check out Hartman Rocks. awesome rock formation, great bouldering, and just nice camping (free and anywhere you want).

Just saw this post. I went to Colorado Springs once and had my drive go to the trouble of schlepping my bike on his car. I swear, I didn't see any native bikers while there. No shoulders on the roads by my hotel and no sidewalks, which means you are at the mercy of some pretty large vehicles in the road.
I also stayed in some exurb of CS for a night. They had trails all over, to get to Arby's or whatever and back, but no lighting at night.
