Does this belong in events? minx?
Well, whatever...The official shit, from the party organ (no, not MY party organ):
It's a new year, and time for a new show at First Amendment Arts, recently named one of Minnesota Monthly's top picks for 2007! Please join us on Saturday, January 27th, for the opening of our first photography show, with music provided by DJ Mike the 2600 King, Petey Wheatstraw and, beginning at 10:00pm, Sugoi! and Death to Our Enemies will rock your socks off.
Glamour Shots features photography with a wide variety of viewpoints, from the saturated colors and polished insight of Matt Grayson and Jeff Henrikson to the eponymous Aaron/Erins project by Aaron Wojack, Daniel Ritter's nudes and foods to Jes Schrom's innocence-taunting stuffed animal carnage, the musically motivated documentation of Skye Rossi and Matthew Jenkins to Guy Nelson's poignant perversity, Jeff Frane's view into the Minneapolis bike culture, and a host of focal points in between. For more information about this show and other upcoming First Amendment Arts events, please see www.firstamendmentarts.com. We look forward to hosting you on Saturday night at 1101 Stinson Boulevard NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413 (Basement Suites A and B).
No cover charge, 21+ to drink, 7-10pm artists' reception with rock show to follow. Dancing will occur until late into the evening - wear comfortable shoes and come prepared for visual and aural good times.

GODDAMMIT.
Okay: I can personally attest to the rockingness of Death To Our Enemies.
I can also vouch for the TOTAL BRILLIANCE that is Guy Nelson. This is a dude who sculpted a bust of Jesus out of red licorice. The name of the piece? "SWEET JESUS".
Jeff: I hope you are putting up one of the shots that I liked.
I will not be there, due to lack of car and the having of the baby. But have fun, enjoy the music, and check out SWEET JESUS!

Jeff: although it would completely ruin the surprise, you should post the photos you're choosing on your website. That would be mad rad.

Shoot. I can't go Saturday, but I really wanted to get a portrait taken. Shoot McShootshoot! Jeff - any of us procrastinators/havetoworkwhenyoutakepictures people have a shot at still getting one taken? I have Thursday free...

I have a question. I have my 9 year old this weekend. She is well behaved, so I would like to bring her to see the pics. Is this gallery more of a bar where someone her age wouldn't be able to be there with a parent or is it a place that she could stop in with me for a bit?

You should totally bring her. I mean, if you guys come early when everyone is well reserved and not grinding on the nearest inanimate object you're golden.

I've heard of at least 2 people (including one of the artists) that are bringing their infant children in the 7-10 family friendly art gallery hours. It usually doesn't get raucous until about 10 and turns into a full-fledged party around midnight.

What's admission/beer cost? I'm getting close to broke-ass but I'd love to come.
