no, its our park. Paid for with money taken at gunpoint.

It takes people with guns to get you to pay your taxes?

FWIW, the reason that he wasn't going to just let us play last Sunday and deal with it later is that we "mouthed off" to him when he confronted us.
I honestly had him calmed down to the point that he was going to let it go, but he kept coming back to that.

This:
Quote:
Sheesh, I'll just shut up and go investigate
myself. I'd rather avoid future confrontations,
especially if all he wants is us to say, "Hi,
we want to use the courts on Sunday," and
he says, "Okay, that's cool, just sign this."
is the best suggestion I've heard so far.

I'll called the park director.

His concern is that we altered park property w/out permission/permit.

That's completely legit!!!!

It may be our park, but would they be happy if we took the swings off the swingset? The nets off the hoops?

The park director is checking up on the possibility of a permit and will call me back. He said he wants to accommodate us but isn't sure the exact rule... he also said he would help us find an appropriate facility if the courts are off-limits... not that I want to find a different facility, but it just goes to show you that these people aren't out to ruin our party. Talk to people. Be nice. Show some god damned respect, you fat fucking bitches

And it probably means that if we don't mess with the nets, and just play across the courts, there's nothing to worry about.

His concern would then be sharing w/ others.
And strangers might not be comfortable asking us to share
(if you can believe that we intimidate others!).

He indicated two park users have called in the past two weeks.

He misunderstood one user and heard 'Rollo' (instead of 'polo'),
so he's been kind of confused...

Update: I got the callback. I'm going to meet w/ him this evening...

So we can blame sveden? The guy seemed pretty determined from the moment that he walked up that we weren't going to be allowed to play...

He got the form, but it's for a whole 'new event type' not just renting out the court. We went scouting other locations last night, but didn't see anything that was _really_ great.

More details probably coming soon.

The Kenwood Park Tennis Courts are pretty new and not all the visible. I dunno what makes a good polo court though really...

Every time I've tried to play tennis at the Kenwood courts they've been full of rich Kenwood people playing tennis.

Riding by Holmes Park on a delivery yesterday, I saw that there was no net hung in the middle of the day...

This dude was pissing on your picnic probably because you didn't drive a Toyota to the court.

(I know this is old... but I needed to let some steam off. It makes me mad when passion gets commodified for capital gain. If you've ever seen the back of a Summit Brewing truck, their "Social Element" campaign uses freak bikes a la Cavalcade)
