If so, what do you do?
I am extraordinarily unhappy with my job (sales and marketing for a little housewares company). Maybe time for a career change? I am curious as to what other folks do that they enjoy. (And, no, I am not just asking internet people, I am asking real people too.
If you are not happy with your job, feel free to rant. I enjoy feeling like I am not alone.

OH! I'm an "internet person" - ha, actually I'm a Web Strategy Analyst. I like it a TON.
My position is roughly a creative director from advertising, except in the middle of a largish web company and only with internal clients/partners. Kind of the internal consultant on "how the internet works" and "what you should do" for those within our company. Lots of feasibility, best practice, user experience, and business rules, all on top of a solid development/design role.
plus, I can wear jeans to work, and I'm usually done by 5:30.

I'm self employed as a freelance programmer. Mostly webstuff. I don't love it, but I don't hate it. On the plus side, I work from home. Though this too has downsides: If I pass out from this heart murmur I've just developed from eating 1/2 a box of Jello pudding, who is going to call 911?
I'm actually in the process of switching careers. I'll be going back to school this fall (UIUC, go Illini!) to get my PhD in Political Science. Teaching and researching suites me better.
I say go for it: find something better. Or find something worse and then find something better. Whatever it takes. Don't settle.

I work with bikes.
I like the people but I hate bikes.
iffy on my end as to whether or not I "like" it..
it's better than most of the jobs I have had...
I would rather be helping people live with out aid from the government.

I run a print center at the U of M. I like it but there is no challenge in it anymore, I basically got it mastered. But being that I work at the U I can take classes for free so I will be taking some this fall.... though I have no clue what to pursue. Probably web, computer, graphic stuff.

I love my job. I am an environmental consultant and oversee environmental permitting work for energy projects all over the U.S. and I manage the technical operations of our company. It's really challenging and rewarding. We have a ton of smart people and the values of the company match mine (pro employee, very client focused, not a lot of bull shit).

I freakin' love my job!
I am a coffee slinger for Caribou Coffee. Although I am not nearly paid what I would need to survive off of, I still love the people I work with and I'm pretty decent at it. Also, being friendly to people for a living is a lot easier when you have an endless supply of caffeine readily available! I am hoping to get a job doing something involving bikes in the near future, and I'm going to school to eventually become a designer (College of Visual Arts represent!), for now I enjoy what I'm doing so it's all good

Right now I'm working in an after school program watching K-5th graders. The only bad thing about it is that it's my second "real" job and I don't really want to do anything else ever. Not many people get to eat cookies and play kickball all day, then get paid for it. I guess I also work on bikes, but the money is terrible and I just like riding the bikes around. Plus people often trade food for bike work, I'm always down for that.
I'd say for sure go find a new job, I've never found a reason to continue to do something that I'm unhappy with. What's the point?

I studied Geography, which is actually a really good background for this kind of work. We also have a lot biologists, soil scientists, geologists, chemical engineers and public affairs/communications types around as well.

Thanks!
I want to go back to school, and I'm trying to decide what to do. Does your work get you out of the office quite a bit?

Yeah - I travel to Anchorage a lot right now for project work. Also Houston, Denver and Seattle occasionally, and Providence every now and then. PM me if you want more details.
