Has anyone ridden the Trout Brook Trail that runs around Lake McCarrons in St.Paul on Rice St. and Roselawn Ave? I am wondering if it is a paved trail because I am thinking about using a different route back home from work and this trail will be part of the route. I think it is much safer to take the small streets and not worry about high flow traffic. My normal route would be from Larpentuer Ave in St.Paul all the way to SE Mpls by HWY280 which turn into Hennipen Ave and there is just too much traffic when I get off work.

I bet you it's paved with snow, regardless of what the underlying path is made of.

It is asphalt or concrete.

sbs z31,

You've probably already checked this out, but, just in case you haven't, I'll post this.

The trail along the south side of the lake is asphalt. It's probably okay.

The trail that goes through the Reservoir Woods might be a challenge. I haven't been through there for a couple of weeks, but previous experience would suggest that it's probably not the clearest route at this time of year.

The tunnel under Dale will be okay, and the extension over to S McCarrons Blvd will probably be OK.

Thanks for the heads up but me and godofmildew was just on it over the weekend and plan on going back there this Saturday.

With today's snowfall, I'd expect the Reservoir Woods to be a bit interesting.

Is that the ride that is leaving from the Bicycle Chain tomorrow afternoon? Enjoy!

The trail through the Reservoir Woods was cleared much better than I thought it would be.
