FYI...don't know if it was posted somewhere else, but Hoff has an article about critical mass in the daily today...check it out...more of a first person account of the arrest mass than his normal bs....

Regardless of the topic of discussion, Mr. Hoff once again demonstrates what an awful fucking writer he is. Dreadful bullshit.

what is even crazier is that he has a 10 year old kid. Not anything against it, he just doesn't seem like someone who would have a 10 year old kid already...especially judging by the maturity of his responses towards the people who emailed him.

It's about time someone sued that buffoon. What kind of grown adult spends his free time sitting in parked cars taking pictures of people he deems undesirable to "his" neighborhood? To top it off, he then posts these pictures on the internet along with addresses and horribly dehumanizing comments. He is clearly hiding behind the digital divide and is banking on the fact that the people he mocks are too stupid, poor, illiterate, etc. to find out about his blog and see all the nasty stuff he is writing about them.

I'm not saying that criminals should have a free pass to run wild, but who does this guy think he is? He moved to a not so great neighborhood because of the cheap real estate and just expects everybody to change their ways to suit his idea of how people should behave. I admire that he wants to improve the North Side (even if it is for selfish reasons), but going around trying to get as many people arrested as possible is not the most productive use of his time if improving the quality of life is truly his goal.

Officer Eric Cartman IMO.

Knowing about that blog makes me unwilling to buy a house in that neighborhood.

I'd rather not live in an area where a busy body neighbor is monitoring every move I make on his blog.

I used to serve people when I was in my early 20's. Generally when a deputy has to do it there is something more involved. That's how I remember it anyway. You got served by me if you were getting sued by mastercard. You got served by a deputy for unlawful detainers and restraining orders and things of that nature.

AFAIK, you can pay a deputy to serve papers, if you want.

There's a set fee.

Registered mail also counts as a valid way to serve papers.

Its far cheaper than a member of law enforcement.

/once had to serve papers.
//on what was indirectly the state.
///hell yes, we're going after the big fish.

I remember when he was still at the U of M and his drivel got published in the Daily every week. I think the newspaper had some sort of Fox's Crossfire going on, with him as the right-wing nut-job and someone else as a liberal hippie. The bullcrap Hoff wrote, however, would overpower the "liberalness" of the other guy and enrage a large portion of the readers, so every week there would be letters to the editor contesting what he wrote.
That said, I'm happy he's not at the Daily anymore, but it sucks for the North to have such an asshole for a neighbor.

I always wondered if that guy was just trolling with his articles but apparently he's just a douche.

Take a look at the cover article on the city pages. You might find out why he got served.
Apparently more to the story here.
