No judgment here; just wondering why you went with the fade/two tone paint scheme?
Also, who built this beautiful monster? and how many fat bikes sacrificed their lives for it? And jebus... how much did it cost overall?!?!?!

Judge all you want - not my bike.

I haven't heard all details, but I'm assuming "Bastine Fab Co." did the frame work. As far as what went into making it, I think at least one Moonlander is a good guess, as the owner had a Moonlander at his shop last winter that he rented out/rode himself but didn't end up selling in the spring after a half-hearted attempt. Everything else comes from his bike shop, so he's paying cost for any componentry.

Ride won't be for another month or so - that's when he expects to be in town. So all I have are the pictures to drool over...

Anyways, the fabricator is a guy that works at his shop, and the idea for this bike came about when the two guys you see riding it were doing the Iceman near Traverse City last November. Apparently, the two of them had some mishap and ended up finishing the course by sharing the Moonlander I was talking about. They started joking about both riding the one bike, one thing led to another, and their guy at the shop figured he could pull it off.

I bet at least the three tubes that had yellow paint on them came from a '13 Pugsley.

You know, I was thinking the same - it looks like both a pugs AND a moonlander were sacrificed for this. Moon rear end and fork, pugs front end. Wonder why the pugs had to be in the mix?

That seems right. I'm guessing they started thinking about what they could use to turn the Moonlander into a tandem and buying a Pugsley frame ended up being the best/cheapest idea.
