Im in the process of designing a 36er and would like to have some lugs made. Can anyone local make some up for me if I provide the specs?

Yes. There are many local framebuilders who can make lugs, at least for their own bikes.

cast lugs? Pretty sure no local builders make their own cast lugs... To elaborate: cast lugs take investment casting tooling and equipment not normally available to frame builders. Lugs are bought from larger suppliers and filed out and adjusted to fit. if you have close to "normal geometry" (see below, in the Henry James quote) , there is a good chance a local builder could purchase lugs that are close to the geo you want, and adjust them. You may be able to convince a local builder to adjust a lugset to your needs. If having "any" geometry would be of some value, this statement would be true. But geometries have evolved to a very narrow range. For example, it is almost impossible to find a stock mountain bike that does not have a 73° seat tube angle, 71° head tube angle, and 1.5" fork rake. Stock road bikes are almost always 73° parallel. Henry James is able to cover the range of angles needed by Custom Frame Builders with 2 or 3 head and seat angles and 3 or 4 down tube angles. A rider has to be away out at the end of the bell curve to need welded construction.

Forget about it. You're talking like thousands of dollars.... and i MEAN IT.
THOUSANDS.
I know I have done the research. Just to have a set or two made, its just not worth it.
But- you can do it with just normal 4130 tubes...
get the OD of the tubes you will be using, get tubing that has the same or real close ID,
then hack and file away till you make your own "lug".
I have done this and tig welded my own lugs, lotsa work and time.
It can be done, search the net and flicker sites, a lot of guys do this and join them with bronze, err brass.....

then hack and file away till you make your own "lug". Noren is, as usual, spot-on with this. Getting stuff investment cast is going to cost you insane amounts of money. The approach he mentions above is something I'm currently doing for a personal 29er, and I know of plenty of other builders who have done the same. Need to pick your brain on where you're finding 36er parts.
