Does anyone know of any local stores that sell organic vegetable and herb seeds? I was going to buy seeds today, but I found out that the brand I was going to use (inexpensive, common, non-organic) coats seeds in fungicides and some other chemicals known to kill bees and generally mess up the environment.

Check out your neighborhood co-op! I know east side co-op is having their annual plant sale as we speak! As an aside, it may be too late to start tomaters and peppers from seeds, but the farmers markets and co-ops all have young plants for sale right now. eta: East Side Co-op Plant Sale

We love Hamden Park Co-ops plant sale (Raymond and Hampden). The have tomato seedlings right now. Mississippi Market's 7th Street store is having a plant sale. You can also try Eggplant Farm and Garden Supply on Selby near Fairview.

An aside.
Last year we let some things go to seed and collected the seeds and collected seeds from things like squash and melons. This year we planted peas, green beans, corn, some herbs, squash, and cantaloupe from our collected seeds. I was so pleased this morning to find that our peas and squash are going gangbusters! We're planting the corn and green beans this weekend.

Thanks, all And yeah, I'm pretty late in the game. I wasn't done with classes, finals, projects, &c. until Monday. Right now I gotta find some space to get seedlings growing so they don't get immediately mown down by the local rabbit and deer populations.

I have some somewhere, I'm sure. Some friends told me about a natural spray that keeps hungry critters away, but I won't need that until I have stuff in the ground.

The organization I work for is holding a plant sale right now as a fundraiser. http://www.ansrmn.org/join/garage_saleI'm having trouble logging in to my work email from home, I'll get a specific list of the plants tomorrow. http://eggplantsupply.com/My aunt and uncle run this place in St. Paul, they'll hook you up. I browsed the hampden park plant sale today and it seemed pretty legit.
