To all animal lovers with no dogs, my mom has been threatening to euthanize a 13 year old red maine coon cat for the last 3 years. Now mother has decided to send this indoor cat off to a farm and the cat is declawed.

My sister originally adopted the cat and left it with my mother when my sister got married and moved away. Now since my mother has bought a aussie shepard male dog that never ceases to torture the cat the cat hasn't stopped pooping or peeing on my mother's bed. The new dog just continues to shit all over the house due to the fact my mother doesn't take care of the dog well. .

But the entire neighborhood tells my mom the dog is gorgeous so she keeps the dog. Because the neighbors don't fawn over the cat (because she's an indoor cat no one sees her) mother doesn't value the cat. So for the last 2 years all mother talks about is having the cat put down. Not once has mother taken the cat to a vet to see if there is a underlying medical issue.

I am really angry. I want this cat to have a good home, but mother just wants the cat dead. Without paying a vet to euthanize the cat, she has found a more painful and terrifying way to kill the cat. My cat is 15 years old and won't get along with this cat otherwise mother's cat would live with me.

Please someone find this aging cat (who behaves like a kitten yet) a home so my mother doesn't kill this cat! I am so angry. Like I didn't have enough reasons to disown my mother. She's evil!

Yes I sound like an evil witch to many of the "in crowd" here, I don't really give a damn to be honest.

What I do care about is whether the last few years of this cat's life is as good as her first few. Which is why I take dear care of a cat that is currently 15 years old and is on 4 different treatments to deal with her chronic old age. Eventually the dear sweet fluffmonger (my cat) will die or I'll have to put her down out of respect for the quality of her life. Until then I'd like to see fluffmonger 2 get a descent home until fluffmonger 1 leaves this world.

Purely out of selfish reasons, I'd like to have fluffmonger 2 back when fluffmonger 1 dies. But they won't get along and they are too old to force them to endure each other.

I just took this photos, like 5 minutes ago. I washed her yesterday so she smells good.

Whenever I pull her from my mother's closet she instantly purrs because she doesn't get much affection; unless its from me.

A fellow cat, unrelated, had lived with fluffmonger 2 (Tabby on vet records) for her entire life and the problems with peeing outside the litter box started when we put this other cat down (19 years old and with an advanced kidney disease, took way too long to put her down because mother rather she died so she didn't have to pay to euthanize). I predict if this cat lived with no dogs and was loved she wouldn't have the 'toileting' problems. Personally I want this cat back when my cat is dead.

God this is upsetting. Please the usual scum to make an effort to not post crap bullying responses, the specific "friend" group of a particular mod here, please don't bother harrassing me for the love of God. Just refrain from posting in this thread.

I will call around to find a "foster home" for fluffmonger 2 (tabby). But I'd prefer to find someone who isn't a critical old hag that will lecture me and give me a headache if I am able to take fluffmonger 2 (tabby) back with me.

This has been exceptionally stressful for me over the last few years, and its one of the reasons why I am at the evil witch's home so often. To attempt to reduce the friction between the cat and dog. No avail.

Tabby (fluffmonger 2) is a gorgeous, warm, kittenlike and overly affectionate cat. I'd hate to hear how they found her corpse on the farm brutally attacked by ferral cats or wild animals.

Please help

Contact Home for Life (homeforlife.org) and see if they'll take her. Bear in mind, though, that once she's gone to them, she's gone to them to live out the remainder of her life there. Visits aren't possible, either.

Well I gave them a call and described the situation, its been given ASAP status.

Tabby will spend the next few days with me until I can arrange transport to the sanctuary. Yes all hell will break loose in my tiny studio hovel; but its worth it.

fontosaurus, I didn't expect this form of gracious, sensitive and amazing help from anyone. I can't thank you enough because I haven't been sleeping more than a few hours a night since this threat was leveled at Tabby and subsequently me.

THank you so much!

If the only good thing that ever came out of this forum was to find a dignified place for this kitteh to live her life, it would have been worth it. TOTH to this forum for connecting people willing to help each other.

alwaysflat, sorry for the oppression you feel and any part I had in it. If you ever want to bury the hatchet, I'd be happy to meet up somewhere and talk. We can also talk about kittehs.

Since I and the clique had the squable on MBL a number of snotty little comments have come from hipsters on bikes rolling past me. Then again some of the more mature man-panty wearers have been far more relaxed and courteous to everyone compared to the last few summers. So it balances out.

On the other hand a handful of cyclists who used to whiz past me getting within 4 inches of me have started giving me berth (a comfortable 3 feet) and letting me know they are passing me on the left. That change is impressive.

The "oppression you feel" is still what I consider a snide and insensitive remark. Actually I consider it bullying, and that went out of style for me when I started to pay income taxes, it takes others longer. I really do judge persons by the words they chose, let alone the intent behind the words.

I am not so concerned about this MBL high school squable. I have high school reunion on the way and boy or boy are some people really fucked; then some are exactly what I expected them to be 'wonderful'. No wonder they make corney, predictable and stupid comedies about high school reunions, its true life material. So consider me full up on that kind of "burying the hatchet' thing for a while.

so when one of those irritating hipsters cruised past me today and asked if I needed help with my bike, he had some tools I didn't feel like ripping his face off and shoving it up his ass. Which is not the way I normally I am. Normally I feel like doing it, but I don't say it to their face. I just told him my ass was sore and he went away. He reminded me of John Heder in 'Mama's Boy'.

I prefer Real Life doesn't get evolve from the internet. Just way too much going on to really take something this childish offline.

And that agency fontosauras suggested hasn't been much of a help. Nor the next 5 agencies I've called and this is expected; so I am taking it in-stride. But kitty is settling in, maybe she'll get along with fluffmonger 1. It would be nice.

Hey,

So you are keeping the kitty? I hope everything works out, but if you need a home for her, I know someone that's always wanted to adopt an older Maine Coon.

Don't thank me, thank the people at HFL. They do amazing work.

It's far and away my favorite charity -- my wife and I sponsor Stormy, and my little framebuilding venture gives $25 of every frame purchase to HFL.

I do hope Tabby's situation is working out and you'll give us an update.
