The only writing I am doing this weekend is for grants.

Aww, that is very sad. Grants always seemed kind of horrible to write. Good luck on funding!

I am very happy because I did manage to catch up. I am now a whole 300 words ahead!

700 words in the buffer now. That's a total of 24,000. Go me! I basically have no life otherwise (ok, I did go on a date, but I spent the rest of the day at a coffeeshop writing), but I'm pretty happy that I'm doing this and it is working. *knock wood*

The writing is pretty bad, but hey, lapidary prose wasn't finishing novels.

I do not actually use this, it it may help others!

Written? Kitten!

I'm basically caught up. I did not get ahead over the weekend, though, which was the plan. The plan did not survive contact with the melomel.

That's awesome good for you; I got so far behind that I gave up.
Maybe next year.

I definitely fell behind but updated/re-wrote two paragraphs today to make them better plus finished a section. I think I am around 10 pages....if I want to include my references then I can say 13. :P

Thank you! I feel very accomplished or something!

The plan is to put it aside for a few months or a year and then see if it can be edited into something reasonable. I think it probably can be. It's really bad, but it has a beginning, a middle, and an end.

Wow, congrats! What are the final stats?

I was hoping to get at least half of my chapter 1 finished but I am going to end around 4/5ths completed. I originally estimated that the entire chapter would be around 30 pages but I think it will be larger than that. I am closing out the month with 13 pages.

Awesome! I bet that feels something like finishing a century, uphill with a headwind both ways!

Yes, I've found that waiting at least a couple of months is a good idea if you think you want to polish it up a bit.

If you're looking for a writing outlet (for shorter pieces), there is a writing section on the (in)famous photoshop site Worth1000.com. The motivation there comes from contests, which are running all the time.

50,913 words -- I went on extra so I could finish the ending. That it actually has an ending is very exciting!

Theses are hard. :( You have my sympathies. Though I just realized -- one of the reasons I was able to do so well at this is that I used some advice from a book on writing dissertations: Joan Bolker's Writing Your Dissertation in 15 Minutes a Day. It's a little more liberal arts focused, but who knows, you might find some useful stuff there!

Thanks! I've never done a century -- though I have come close to a metric century. (I could do one; once you've biked a few thousand miles in a season, it's pretty doable. I just haven't got around to it.)

Worth1000.com looks pretty neat, but I've got my own stuff to write. :)
