I've got a mallet now too - bubbles made a couple last week and the one with the 36" ski pole is the perfect length for my BMX-based efforts

Bump - who's in this week? I'll probably be heading up to spectate again, growing up somewhere that didn't have hockey leaves me at a distinct disadvantage for this game... Probably bringing up a set of croquet mallets, though the handles might be too short...

Glad to hear you found those keys, ald.
The polo bug continues to spread. I think there were 3 first time people playing yesterday. Whoop.
On a side note, Raymond is a bitter asshole.

Yeah, where's the flickr on that shit? I want to see how ridiculous I looked trying to do that.
Who's getting the mythical 'use the tennis courts for polo' permit for next week?

we don't need a damn permit any more than we need a permit to play tennis. As long as the net is put back up when we're done everything is cool.

I looked over the permit application stuff on the MPRB website this morning, and it looks like you only need a permit if you are reserving the facility or running a league. From the permit application form:
Quote: A permit is required for the following uses: non-MPRB leagues; non-MPRB tournaments; a reservation for a specific facility at a specific time; anytime at Parade or Neiman Sports Complex; operation of concessions
Also, taking a look at the site for Logan, they don't even offer reservations for the tennis courts: http://www.minneapolisparks.org/default.asp?PageID=4&parkid=228
Anyhow, as long as we're accomodating tennis players by giving them one court - if they even show up - I think we're in the clear. I searched the MPLS and MPRB ordinances, and they don't say anything about bikes on tennis courts.
...and, finally, the code does say that any specific rules set up by a specific park must be posted in that park.

Two or three squads came, looked at us from across the park, and left 5 mins later without so much as a Howyadoing.

Plus those were MPD, not Park Police, and they seemed to be concerned with one of the women over by the rec center. If Raymond did call, they probably told him they had better things to do!
