This is a game inspired by 3Three3's haiku scavanger hunt. It's a game for people who want to play photo tag, but don't have a camera.

Rule #1) A riddle should take ingenuity to figure out. Ingenuity is something we all have
Knowledge of a lot of trivia is not something everyone has
Please toe the line between common knowledge and trivial knowledge very carefully.

#1.1) Please be very specific about where the lock is located. If the riddle needs to be solved to figure out where the lock is, consider including some additional details. Example: "Once you're at the intersection that the riddle leads to, the lock will be on the orange fence next to the restaurant."

#2) Please place the lock in a location where it won't get cut. Don't make your riddle so hard that it's going to take more than a few days to figure out :x
The longer the lock is in the same spot, the more likely it'll get cut by someone thinking it's abandoned.

#3) Keep the lock in Minneapolis please.

#4) After you have solved a puzzle and removed the lock, please let us know as soon as possible :D
It's not much fun looking for a lock that isn't there. :x

#5) Tell us how you figured out the puzzle! But put the answer in "invisible text" so that it wont be spoiled for people who still want to solve the puzzle.
Code:

#6) New riddles must also be accompanied by a picture of the Riddler!

I will start by posting a puzzle/riddle/clue that will lead you to a location in Minneapolis. There, you can find a combination lock covered with MBL stickers and spiraled white tape. Once you find it, you can put it in another location and come up with a puzzle of your own. Kapeesh?

Rule #1) Be creative and have fun!

Rule #2) There are no other rules.

Suggestion #1) Everybody should be able to solve each puzzle/clue/riddle with -at the most- a pen/cil, some scratch paper and a map. This game isn't about who knows the highest level math. I think it should be about creativity. And FUN!

Suggestion #2) Ride your bike.

Suggestion #3) Keep the lock in Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Suggestion #4) Once you've solved a puzzle and have the lock, say so as soon as you can. But don't feel pressured to come up with a new puzzle right away. Take your time, show off the lock to your friends (I know I have), eat, sleep and work if you have to. Hopefully, any hecklers will wait at least 8 hours.

Suggestion #5) Also, post the answer in "invisible text" with your new puzzle. That way, it won't be spoiled accidentaly for the people who want to figure it out.

The lock is a Kryptonite brand lock with a customizable number.
Combination: 6149

So can I.

I stared  at it long enough and crossed my eyes a little and a photo of the street sign it's locked to appeared.

I don't have a baby sitter to go get the lock though...
keep looking kids..

Don't give clues yet!
I knew that College Math class would come in useful someday.

Now I've got to find time to snatch the lock.

I hope this doesn't involve matrix math.

Edit: the determinant is 8.6181 E21. very enlightening.

Can I add a new rule to this game? That whoever solves it has to post what the answer was and how the puzzle was cracked? Because that just looks like gibberish to me...

What the F does that mean?!?

I was a psychology major which means i'll suck at this game but i'll be able to tell you why you're all a bunch of nerds. Hint: it involves your mom and a little something called "oral fixation"

got it got it, like you have the lock in hand?

i feel like i'm really damn close to solving the damn thing.

Edit:
MJ, you should establish some basic rules, like whether you can take the lock without a new puzzle, how long you have to reset it, game borders, blabbitybloop. i dig this game.

I agree with MicahPaul about the need for some clear rules. Border limits for placement, time allotment for replacing the lock in its new spot, the types of puzzles allowed for clue use, etc.

I also 2nd hereNT's thoughts on the winner explaning how they cracked the puzzle or figured out the lock location. Though, this may not be so necessary with all of the riddle/puzzle/clues.

I am horrible, horrible, horrible at math. But eventually I will get one of these puzzle tags and then be able to do my own riddle...which I am already plotting out in meticulous detail. I am assuming that this puzzle tag will not be strictly math problems and will at some point become friendly to us non-math loving folk. We want to play too...
