Has anyone tried painting an aluminum frame with Rustoleum? My main bike is a crappy Dynacraft-made bike that is pretty scratched up and might look a little better with a paint job.
So, what I was thinking would be painting just like a car - sanding the aluminum, taping it up, throwing on a layer of primer, and then putting on a few layers of high-gloss Rustoleum spray-paint.
My main question is: will this work on an aluminum frame? Has anyone ever tried something similar? I know that car primer and Rustoleum are made for steel, but will it paint well on aluminum? I don't want it to be flaking off a month after I paint it.
This is really my only option. I'm not going to pay to have it painted - the bike was only $120 new and has well over 1500 miles on it, so it has long out-lived its intended lifespan anyways.
