Does anyone have a suggestion about what we can do about the horrible pollution that is being released from the plant on the Midtown Greenway at 28th Street near Hiawatha?

I've biked this route many times in the past.
Never noticed the horrible pollution.
Is this something recent, or perhaps a specific time of day?

What pollution specifically? The sometimes nasty smell issuing from (apparently) Bituminous Roadways?

That plant most certainly has an operating permit and that data is available on-line. If you know the company name you can look it up at the MPCA website. Emissions are monitored per the permit, so if there were any non-compliances that would show in the reporting.
I agree that I smell that plant sometimes, but that's different than spewing pollution. Odor compliants are typically addressed by the City, I beleive, so 311 would be the way to start on that issue, although MPCA may have a role in that as well.

Thank you for the replies! I am looking in to the resources mentioned.
I will check the name of the building tonight. It is across the street from the Bituminous Roadways building, on the south side of 28th. The bike path runs East and South around the industrial complex.
I ride by between 5-6 PM and have noticed it to be worse early in the week.

Oh yeah I've encountered it many times and sometimes it's pretty bad. I get the feeling it's not something you'd want to breath much of and I wonder about the people working in that facility - whatever it does. It smells like some sort of roofing material, or like burning plastic. Nasty.

Bituminous Roadway and the foundry were there long before the greenway. Its an industrial area, not a park. Providing jobs for many people. I'm sure they are well regulated and monitored for emissions. Kind of reminds me of people that move into rural areas then complain about the odor from the nearby farm.

Al I was kind of thinking this too. Its worth checking to make sure they're within legal emissions, but unless we think these sorts of businesses are unnecessary, they have to go somewhere, and driving them all far away from where anyone lives or rides is not the right answer especially since, as ScubaAl said, they were there first. Sweet bike commute for the people working there, too
