haven't really smelled anything there but what's up with that smell on the west end of the Transitway?
cat food?

I wouldn't say cat food. Maybe the end product of said cat food. All I know is its a smell that one can't decide if its worse to breathe through your nose and smell it or breath through your mouth and taste it. :yuck:

I do too. Sometimes I like to cycle through industrial areas.

However, just because a business has been emitting some sort of foul smoke for decades doesn't mean they can keep doing it forever. Times change and people don't necessarily have to accept what was allowed in the past. It's definitely ok to question what's going on at these locations.

Until I hear otherwise I will assume that the businesses at 28th are legitmate, and operating as cleanly as they reasonably can, and aren't emitting anything dangerious.

We're talking about the smell of burning metal, right? Like you just took a diamond cutoff wheel and ground through a chunk of steel. Yeah, I don't care for that. I try to hold my breath and coast through that stretch.

Smith Foundry smells like a foundry. That's okay. They melt down scrap metal and cast it into useful stuff, and you can't do that without some odors escaping. It's recycling. It provides good, honest employment for a lot of hard-working guys. It's good to have it along the Greenway, where employees can bike to work. Not everything that smells funny is bad for you -- while I can't actually claim to like the smell of foundaries, I certainly like to smell it in my city on our Greenway.

Try biking past Nordicware in SLP when they are working. It is pretty rough.

Yeah, it makes me feel sorry for the people living in those apartments they built where Hoigards used to be.
