Wind and water in combination today have finally convinced me that it's time to overcome my fear of death and get a set of fenders.

So, does anyone have any reccomendations for cheap yet functional fenders?

Agreed. Got a set for the wife's bike for $11.75 on sale.

The first weekend after labor day Trailhead in Champlin has 40% off of all accessories. You should get on their mailing list, but that entails going to Champlin......

The Freddies are basic and do the job well. If you want to get classier, I'm a fan of the SKS fenders. Made in Germany and a little trickier to find, they are silverish-colored and actually contain strips of metal inside that give them their shape. The downside is that they run about $40 most places. I know that Hiawatha Cyclery in SouthMPLS and The Bicycle Chain in Roseville have them. If you just want cheap and functional, go with the freddies.

If you did, you could swing by my place and we could crush the Elm Creek reserve on our fixies.....there could be beer of Colorado origin involved..... 8)

come to think of it, it is due time that the collective rode outside the city and enjoyed the northern sections of the Three Rivers trail system.

Back to my impossible fender quest, what'dya figure I can do on this thing (esp. check last 5 pics). I could do some sort of clip on thing if it weren't for the rather low clearance onthe front fork. I think I might do one of those plastic mtb type things that clip on and off fast so I can switch it from one bike to the next.

The tires may look bigger than they are cause they're tubular. I think they're 23s, so I can't go down too much.

You might be best off just getting a clamp-on butt flap fender for the rear and admitting defeat up front.

Alternately, you could chop 8 inches or so off of the front fender so that instead of passing through the fork, it stops at the back of the fork. The spray out the front won't be so perfectly controlled, but it will keep most of the water off of your feet and legs. Is the clearance on the rear about the same as on the front, or is there more room to breathe back there?

Are both your fork crown and brake bridge drilled?
