I don't think it would be so bad if the roads had seen the plow before the big freeze. They waited too long to start plowing. Probably budget cuts.

To be fair, no one expected it to rain during the second act of Christmas Storm 2K9. Naw, they had fair warning. It happened in a way that put plowing on a holiday. For some unions when you hit 40 hours and then work on a holiday the wage is triple time and a half. I would have made the same decision. I know a bunch of guys that have plowing contracts and they all tried to warn "per time" clients about having to do multiple runs because it was all going to freeze up. The clients said, "no way, I'm not paying twice". Then after Christmas they all call to get the frozen stuff off the driveway and the guys I know all said, "no way, I'm not gonna ruin my truck and spend a whole day trying to get the ice off your sidewalk for a lousy $50. Call someone with a bobcat."

Yay summer! I prefer hot, humid air, granted it's sticky, but it's thinner making riding faster easier. That, and it's mostly pleasant to be outside.

I was too warm for me this morning, and it's only May. This is going to be a long summer for mrj. Maybe I can be an anti-fairweather biker.
At least it cools off a little when the sun goes down.

Wow. LIke a windy oven out there. I damn near got blown over in the wind tunnels of downtown this afternoon. I'll still take this over really cold and icy streets, though.

Nope, the silence of rubber, the faster turns, not falling due to ruts, a good sweat, swimming pools, green plants, not darkness to and from work, that's the stuff. Summer.
