You should call Planet Bike about the Superflash. They're pretty good about helping out.

My brother just got me these monkeylectric lights and I love 'em. LOVE THEM!!! They're pricey though so I'm glad he did the early Christmas gift before the Critical Mass ride last Friday. Makes me feel a little safer than just my front and rear doubled-up lights too.

Check this site out.

Sundown starts getting later this Saturday. By the solstice it will be three minutes later than today.
By the end of the month it will be ten minutes later at 4:41 PM with twilight at 5:15 PM.
It has been stuck for about a week on 4:31 PM with twilight at 5:05 PM .

On the other hand, the moon is nearly full right now.
Last night, as I rode home around 7 PM, the moonlight reflecting off of the snow
(combined with the light coming from Christmas displays) made it seem almost like twilight.

i just broke my superflash a few weeks ago and am running my backup tail light. its not as nice or as bright and i deffinitely feel less safe. superflash is the best bang for the buck

ive been looking into something a little nicer... and apparently this light is the sauce. i just cant justify the price. does anyone on here have a DiNotte tail light? is it actually as bright and awesome as it sounds?

Yeah I've got one of those. It's pretty nice. No buyer's remorse here. I have the 4-AA battery version which supposedly can be seen over a mile away (i've never been a mile away from my bike, so I couldn't say). All I know is that cars give me lots of room and I have lots of peace of mind. The wife too - if it has to do with lighting or safety I pretty much always have a greenlight on the expenditure.

I run mine in steady-on mode at the brightest setting and it usually lasts me all the way in to work. Then I recharge for the way home.

I also run three PB-Superflashes on flashing: one on the helmet, one on the bag and one on the left seatstay.

Not being seen by cars doesn't worry me overmuch anymore, but I imagine that one of these days a plane's gonna land on me.

I picked up a bright reflective road worker's vest from Kaplan Bros today.

About $20ish.

Sized to fit over my winter setup.

I was thinking about this thread as I was biking home from work around 5 PM today.
I look forward to the sunset not getting any earlier starting tomorrow.
The sunrise will continue to get later for a few more days.

for sure. since I started biking I've become hyper aware of the sunrise and sunset times. I have an app on my phone that shows me sunrise, sun set and moon phases.

Didn't read it. Too lazy.

Is this thread about Ortho Stice?

The ride home has been a lot less dark this past week with the later sunset and the reflected light from the snow cover.

I've had less surprise encounters with the deer in our neighborhood since I can now see them against the white backdrop.

To use an internal combustion engine term, we've reached "bottom dead center."

It's all upward and onward from here!

Sunset is now an hour later than at the solstice.
It sure is nice to leave work after 5 PM and bike home in the daylight and twilight.

You aren't kidding. I was just thinking how I can't wait until it is light at 8pm, but that I'm sure glad it is still light at 5:30!

Daylight Savings time begins March 10th.
On March 24th civil twilight will end at 8 PM. :)
