What do you guys think of this light? http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dyn ... f=categoryIf it is sufficiently bright, I think it has definite advantages. Once light is installed, never have to worry about batteries dying, and it seems that it causes way less drag than a dynamo... Opinions?

I'll be interested in hearing how it works. It's not the first, though: http://www.reelight.com/ was discussed here.

There prototype mounting system looks horrible.

dasunt wrote: There prototype mounting system looks horrible. Agreed. It wouldn't be hard at all to fashion a bracket that attaches to the fork. Putting this light on a brake seems like an atrocious idea, especially given that the brakes are a moving force, sometimes they wobble or catch, and then you can say goodbye to your light entirely. A small piece of bent tubing and a Cateye-like flex mount (like this one: http://www.bikepartsplace.com/images/med/31162051.jpg) would fix that quickly. Maybe they'll see this?

This is a pretty brilliant system. The form factor is shitty, but that can be resolved (seriously, a crabon rectangle? is it supposed to literally be iconic?).
The way it works is magnetism and its relation to electric current in conductive materials. Magnets in the light induce magnetic flux (changes in the magnetic field strength) in the rim, which results in an electric current in the rotating rim. The turning wheel, being electrified, creates its own magnetic field which the light uses to induce a current in itself. Or something.
Anyways, make it not look stupid and I'll buy 4
