Reading that article, it seems that a lot of male cyclists are riding around with numb crotches.
I don't know about you, but if my crotch was going numb during a ride, I think I'd get off the bike and walk for awhile.

I'm much more worried about nutting myself with all the potholes on Franklin.

Numbness is a sign of a poor seat fit, not a poor seat. Seat angle, and width of the seat could both be culprits. A little professional help to make sure you are making good use of your sit-bones is likely all anyone needs.
If you have this issue, go see a pro shop that you trust --preferably one that does bike fitting. I bet they can help with the "nether" issues.
We're on our own with potholes, unfortunately.

The whole bike saddles causing impotence theory has been largely discredited as bad science and media hype.
