Gawd I love brake cables haphazardly wrapped around frame tubes... its so race, and reeks "performance". Same with the "flat-bar aero position".

I just set up my wife with a similar deal, very discounted AL frame road bike, leaving enough money to make upgrades. I'm open to this options... but AL vs steel?? Trade off in weight vs stiff frame vs durability... It's mostly academic at this point, I don't see having the $$ for a while. DangHeim - my goal is a fair-weather, fast bike. I'm lucky to have 3 bikes currently: good winter bike, a grocery hauler and a daily-commuter. Would love to add a sporty/fast bike for nothing but fast rides. On the other hand, the swap does sound like fun!
