thanks dog! they're basically brand new, and laced to decent 36 hole hubs. i was hoping i wouldnt have to replace them right away to do some loaded touring on. think ill give them a go just how they are.

Anybody have any experience with the Hed Belgium C2 rims? Are they worth the money? Or is it a gimmick? The idea behind the wider rim profile leading to better grip seems solid, but why isn't everyone else copying them? I'm out of rear wheels so my road bike is sidelined until I get a new wheelset. Given my desire for a fatbike before the snow flies, I can afford one of two options: Lace the Hed rims to a pair of Ultegra 6600 hubs I have laying around and build them myself, or buy a pair of Handspun wheels like the Ultegra 6700/DT Swiss 465 wheels. Thoughts? For what it's worth, the decals on the Hed rims would work perfectly with the paint scheme on the bike, so there's that.

Velocity A23 but not really for fast riding. So I shouldn't suggest no one else does it. Why doesn't Mavic copy them?

I took Peter White's recommendation and built up a set of strong and reasonably light touring/commuting wheels. Velocity Dyad rims (36h) and WheelSmith double butted spokes (2.0/1.7mm). I'm very happy with the results.

Forgot to update this thread- I ended up getting some pre-built Handspun wheels. DT RR465 rims laced to Ultegra hubs with DT Comp spokes. I'm really happy with them. Good balance of weight and strength.
