I somehow overlooked the Maah Daah Hey as being a possibility in my trip out to Montana next week.

It's inspired me to juggle my plans on getting out to montana a bit. Overnight train to williston wednesday night. An afternoon ride from Williston to CCC campground on thursday. And, likely - a very humbling ride from CCC campground to Medora on Friday. Here's to hoping it doesn't rain - because, I Have to be in Medora by 8am Saturday. If it does, it's gonna be one huge tease - as I ride the entire length of the trail by highway instead of single track.

Either way, Amtrak tickets purchased. Thanks for the reminder! :) (also, sweet video!)

Dude, you're insane, but I already knew that and respect it. Now at some point we might actually ride together again.

Nah. Just my mountain bike. I'll be doing a bit of road (between polebridge and lakeside) while in montana, so a fatbike seemed a bit too excessive).

Alina, we should start getting some weekdays at lebanon/murphy/elm creek come mid july!

That trail was pretty fucking cool. Gearjunkie, thanks for posting the video - it was the smack in the face reminder i needed.

Looking to do this again in late september/early fall as a 2-3 day social ride, rather than a one day long haul. If anyone's interested, chime in - and we can chit chat in a month or two! (:

For those interested in doing it alone without cars: Williston Station does bike boxes and is 60 miles north of the northern trailhead. Medora based Dakota Cyclery does rides from Medora to the northern trailhead. Likewise, there's so much oilboom traffic on highway 85 (between Medora > Watford City > Williston) that it's incredibly easy to catch a ride.
