Inspired by the post in the road hazards thread, I created a wayfaring map of these bike shops.

You can add comments, phone numbers, whatever to the map.

Nice list and map. It covers most of the shops that would be frequented by most of us.

Cars Bike Shop in Mounds View
http://carsbikeshop.com/index.html

They dont really have any Single Speed/Fixed but they ordered my 9-2-5 and they also have a 9-2-5 frame there for 200 bucks. They are very helpful and was going to help me build my bike (I initailly was going to get the frame) with used parts they had around the place but I ended up just getting the whole bike.

A bit of advice: If you have a map you carry with you cycling, mark local bike shops.

You don't know when you'll need an emergency repair.

My site lists almost 100 local bike shops in the area on a map along with other bike-related stuff. I suppose if there's demand I can make the raw list of bike shops available as well.

Don't forget about Calhoun Bike Rental on James and Lake Street. They primarily deal in rentals and tours, but also sells used bikes, offers tune-ups, and repairs. As far as I know, this is the only place in Minneapolis offering regularly scheduled guided bike tours. You can call for details and times.

This is a locally owned bike rental store that has been a local business since 1985. Its in the basement of the building on the corner of Lake Street and James just one block from Lake Calhoun.

The website is:
www.calhounbikerental.com

Phone:
612-827-8231

Hours:
Open 7 days a week, M-F 11AM - 7PM, Saturday 9AM - Dusk, Sunday 10AM - Dusk
