So at track or treat not too long ago, I won in a raffle a set of velocity deep v's that The Hub donated, all gold and shiny. I believe they are anodized, and do not have a machined braking surface. The rear hub is fixed/free so it seems like it was intended to have brakes used on them. I know that they will work of course, but I was wondering if there will be unsightly wear and tear or if they will stay golden. And do you think that using salmon colored kool-stops would maybe leave less noticeable wear than black pads?

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions!

Yes.

Regardless of the pad compound, dragging rubber (and a little inevitable grit/debris) along your rims is guaranteed to wear through any type of surface finish over time. It'll wear through in spotty patches, too, which are pretty unsightly. If you want the rims to stay nice-looking for as long as possible, your best bet would be to ride them fixed and use the brake as sparingly as you feel safe doing.
