I'm impressed that it was only 5 minutes. Thank you for coming and being such an effin' bad ass, PIC!

I had a great time last night. It was fun to have a little party with some treats, and to have the opportunity to give some props to Jamie/ Sunrise.

In other news:

We need volunteers for the Active Living Bike Expo. Come and hang out at the State Fairgrounds with me:
Quote:
2010 Active Living Bike Expo is Friday, April 23 from 3-9PM and
Saturday, April 24 from 9-6PM in the Education Building at the MN
State Fairgrounds. Admission is FREE with a Food Shelf or BikeMN
donation. Jamie, owner of Sunrise, will be sharing a table with us.
Thousands of people come to this event, and we thought it would be a
nice way to get the word out about our little project.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! Hang out, walk around, meet nice people: Friday
3-6 or 6-9, Saturday 9-1:30 or 1:30-6. We already have one Grease Rag
volunteer for each shift, but it would really be more fun with at
least two people per shift. Get involved and help us out! Official
website.

I want to organize a Ride to Sibley's w/t night on 5/4. Is anyone interested? Sound off here: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=16984

Peace and bike grease,
Low

hey I helped a guy fix a flat and thought I'd share the story,

I stopped.. his old Peugot was flat.. (so old the skewers were frozen) anyway, he didn't have any tools but a pump, and I didn't have my levers but said that I had a patch kit.

we pulled the bike apart, used the skewer handle as a lever (worked but I'd rather use levers).

Found 3 holes in his tube, one in his tire. opened up my patch kit, realized I was empty! the new one that I bought wasn't in my bag. yArGh!!!

Used a latex glove that I had, and the glue from the patch kit. (cut out patches from the glove and glued them on after sanding the tube).. It worked surprisingly well, then booted the tire with a dolla dolla bill yo!

Funtimes!

one woman stopped to help, Bjorn stopped to help, no one else stopped and we got heckled by two different jack asses. all in all it was interesting.

The patches held till he got to Freewheel to buy a new tube and new tires (to replace the BALD ones )

:)

Wow, it's been a crazy week. Tomorrow I will be unwinding at Sunrise, putting a rack on a bike (hopefully), messing with cable tension and lubing cranks/ fixing whatever is creaking on my bike. Anybody else planning on coming tomorrow?

As far as I know, the group ride is still on...

btw Shayne's birthday is May 20, which is the next Grease Rag after tomorrow... I forsee cake in the near future.

-Low

PS The ride to Sibley was so much fun, we will be doing it every month! Check the blahhg for more info.

I'll be there. I've heard so many good things about the League of American Bicyclists' traffic courses, I'm pretty excited about this one!

See you there?

Gotta work, so won't be there, but hands down, the course I took with the League was the best thing I ever did to improve my skills. I'd been riding for multiple years, but I was making some errors. Now I confidently take the lane, merge, turn left - don't miss it!
