Theo Wirth Trail Work
Wednesday, July 4th 5:00PM – 9:00PM • Golden Valley, MN
Every Wednesday during the season, MORC’s trail crews are out blazing new trail and making repairs. If you’ve got a few hours to spare on hump day, join up and get dirty.
From jitterjepp’s post in Off-Road Rides:
“We have started this seasons trail work again at Theodore Wirth. Our regular trail work sessions are on Wednesday nights at 5pm. We meet in the par3 parking lot which is the small building about a half mile north of 55 on Theodore Wirth Parkway.
On the 2nd Wednesday of the month we typically have a short trail work session then we roll up to the Kenwood Community Center near the north end of Lake of the Isle for our monthly MOCA board meetings where we discuss trail advocacy and trail building issues.
Tonight will be a short session (about 45 min) so don’t feel bad about not coming out. On regular trail days we work until sunset so if you can’t get there at 5pm you can roll out and find us on the trail.
I will do my best to keep this information up to date but you can also check the MORC website as well.
This year after we do the spring de-berming and such we really to finish the new section because there is new trail to be had in other areas. You help is going to be necessary to accomplish these goals. We can’t do it without you.
I the past we have had town hall type events at one-on-one and such and people always ask what else they can do because they can’t or don’t want to do trail work. Well, you can look at the MORC website for other stuff but what we really need is for people to help at trail work. The more people we can get to trail work the faster this process of getting our ten miles back will go.
It’s been almost a decade since this process started and there are about six of us that have been going out and doing this since. Some people have come and gone and we appreciate all the work you’ve done but we need you back and we many new people.
I know many of you ride the trail and want it to be longer. We aren’t done with that new section. Not even half done. Come on out and do some digging with us. It’s a great bunch of people from a crazy mountain unicyclists to regular MTB’ers including Steef and myself.”
